Health & Safety Reps are workers who make the workplace safer for their fellow workers, we want to give you the knowledge and the tools to be the best representative you can be.
SA Unions is the premier training provider of Comcare Approved Health and Safety Representative Training.
We'll not only train you on making your workplace safer, we'll also help you to navigate the WHS Act, to get safety outcomes when dealing with your employer and WHS committees.
Note this training is only for Commonwealth employers or licensees currently in Comcare’s jurisdiction.

ENROLLING FOR TRAINING
1. CONSULT WITH YOUR EMPLOYER
-You should let your manager know that you are intending on attending training at SA Unions, and to expect an email from the training centre to authorise payment.
NOTE: It is a HSR's choice of where to receive their HSR training
2. ENROLMENT:
- Fill out this enrolment form, identifying course you are enrolling for.
3. MANAGER/SUPERVISOR AUTHORISATION:
- Must be signed off by manager/supervisor, as soon as you submit this form, they will be emailed a copy of this enrolment form,
- Please ensure that you have entered their details correctly.
3. PAYMENT:
- A tax invoice will be sent to the account details nominated by your manager/supervisor.
Training costs are covered by your employer.

Target Group
Elected Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and Deputy Health and Safety Representatives (DHSRs).
Prerequisites Election as a Health and Safety Representative or Deputy Health and Safety Representative.
Course Description
A five-day course where participants will look at injuries and diseases in workplaces; causes of accidents; the WHS Act 2011; the WHS Regulations 2011 and a range of other WHS issues to enable them to be the most effective HSR they can be in the workplace.

Commonwealth REFRESHER (1 DAY)

Target Group Elected and Re-elected Health and Safety Representatives / Deputy HSRs
Course Content Refresher courses are tailored to build knowledge related to specific legislative and HSR skills development and provide an overview of the learning outcomes covered in the five-day initial training.
A one-day refresher course is offered and available to all HSRs, 12 months after they have completed the five-day HSR Initial course. It can be completed at any time in the 3rd year of your term.
If you are a newly elected HSR you will need to complete the 5 day INITIAL training
General Information
HSRs are entitled under the WHS Regulations and outlined in section 72 of the WHS Act 2011 to attend a course of training in work health and safety that is approved by the regulator.

One day, 9am - 5pm
Cancellation Policy
When an enrolment is cancelled the following cancellation fees will apply. This can be waived if another course date is booked.
More than 14 days before course commencement date = Full refund
Between 7-14 days before commencement date = 50% refund
Less than 7 days = No refund.
Training Schedule
Depending on the COVID-19 environment, we expect to be delivering face to face (F2F) training with a maximum of 12 participants per course. Each course has a code which you need to include on your enrolment form.

CONDUCTING TRAINING IN A COVID-19 ENVIRONMENT
SA Unions complies with Public health laws, National Safe Work Principles and Safe Work Australia’s industry guidance. Safe Work Australia’s industry guidance is available at: http://www.swa.gov.au/covid-19-information-workplaces.
We ask all participants attending our courses to please contact us prior to the commencement if you are unwell with a fever, have acute respiratory infection, or gastroenteritis. We will transfer you to the next available course and waive the cancellation fee once we have received written confirmation from your employer.
If you develop any of the following symptoms of COVID-19 during the course, please immediately tell the Trainer, contact your employer, contact your health provider, and remove yourself from the building:
- Fever
- Sore throat
- Cough
- Fatigue
- Difficulty breathing
