PRINTING & KINDRED INDUSTRIES UNION
(Now part of the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union)
Artist: Steve Fox
Funded by: UTLC Banner Project and PKIU
Produced: 1984-87
Workers in the South Australian printing industry first united in a union in 1874.
Reflecting early connections to reformist churches, PKIU members were organised in ‘Chapels’ in each workplace, and the senior union delegate was called the Father or Mother of the Chapel.
