MALCOLM,
DON'T
HANG SA
OUT TO
DRY

Opposition
Leader,
Malcolm
Turnbull
should use
his visit to
South
Australia to
show
leadership
and take a
tough stand
on climate
change.
SA Unions
Secretary,
Janet Giles
says this
state is
more
vulnerable
than most,
given its
location at
the edge of
a desert at
the end of a
river.
Ms Giles
challenged
Mr Turnbull
to find the
silver
lining in
climate
change, by
supporting
initiatives
to create
jobs and
secure the
economy.
"Our
reliance on
the River
Murray puts
us in a
precarious
situation.
It's no good
pretending
that climate
change isn't
happening -
we see the
evidence of
it right
here in this
state."
"We're
urging the
Opposition
Leader to
look at
South
Australia
when
considering
the perils
of climate
change and
consider
what's in
its best
interests.
If it's of
benefit
here, then
it will be
too for the
rest of
Australia".
"The rest of
the
developed
world is
striving for
carbon
neutral, and
we should be
too.
We call on
the
opposition
to stop
being
climate
change
deniers and
to focus on
the future
opportunities."
"We want
South
Australia to
be a leader
in renewable
energy
technologies
and call on
Mr Turnbull
to support
the
development
of green
industries
here."
"This would
deliver
South
Australian
workers
economic
security
through new
skills
development
for a fresh
generation
of
technology."
"Acting now
to place
Australia as
the
forefront of
this
emerging
demand means
we can
benefit from
what is an
otherwise
bleak
outlook."
"We urge Mr
Turnbull to
display
vision and
leadership
and act in
the long
term
interests of
our state,
and our
nation", Ms
Giles says.
