Effective Health and Safety Committees

Participants will look at the legal requirements for establishing health and safety committees.  Learn about the effective functions of health and safety committees and techniques through communication and negotiation to assist in the effective operations of health and safety committees.

Committee Member Training - Introductory Course

1 Day Course : 9.15 am - 4.15 pm
This course is designed for participants new to the role of Health and Safety Committees.  The course looks at the legal requirements to establish health and safety committees and the functions of the committee.

At the end of this course participants will be able to

  • outline the legal requirements for establishing health and safety committees

  • explain the functions of health and safety committees

  • describe the key factors in effectively preparing for meetings

  • identify those aspects of meeting procedures that would best suit health and safety committee(s) in their workplace

  • use communication and negotiation techniques to assist in the effective operation of health and safety committees.


Committee Strategic Review and Continuous Improvement Course
1 Day Course : 9.15 am - 4.15 pm
This course is designed for committee members in their second and subsequent years to review their activities.

At the end of this course participants will be able to
  • extensively explain the functions of health and safety committees

  • effectively prepare for and participate on the OHS Committee and meetings

  • use communication and negotiation techniques assist in the effective operation of health and safety committees

  • develop networks and structures to be an effective OH&S Committee member

The Course Fee includes

  • Participant manual (with copy of the OHS&W Act)

  • Morning and afternoon tea

  • Light lunch provided (unless regional course)

Course fee per Day
Standard Fee $230 (inc GST)
Union Member $210 (inc GST)

 

Cancellation

Cancellation Policy
When an enrolment is cancelled the following cancellation fees will apply.  This can be waived if another course date is booked.

More than 14 days before course commencement date = Full refund
Between 7-14 days before commencement date = 50% refund
Less than 7 days = No refund
