Health and Safety Representatives & Deputy Health and Safety Representatives

Health and Safety Representatives and Deputy HSR's attend the full 5 days of scheduled Level 1 courses.

 

Course Description

GENERAL LEVEL 1 HEALTH AND SAFETY REPRESENTATIVE COURSE

(5 days)

A five day course where participants will gain an understanding of the principles of the OHS&W Legislation; including the role of the Health and Safety Representative and the Health and Safety Committee.  The course will provide participants with a basic understanding of the principles and practice of hazard management and skills to consult and negotiate.
 

 

Target Group

Elected Health and Safety Representatives and Deputy Health and Safety Representatives.
 

 

Split Attendance at Level 1 Course

If it is not possible for you to attend the Level 1 course on five consecutive days, you may like to consider splitting your attendance between two courses. This can be done on the basis of either a two/three or three/two split. The five days training should be undertaken inside a month.
 

Course Content

The course complies with SafeWork SA Guidelines on content and covers -

  • Unit 1 : SWSAHSR101A
    Introduction to occupational health, safety and welfare

  • Unit 2 : SWSAHSR102A
    Occupational health, safety and welfare legislation

  • Unit 3 : SWSAHSR103A
    Perform the functions and exercise the powers of a health and safety representative

  • Unit 4 : SWSAHSR104A
    Hazard management

  • Unit 5 : SWSAHSR105A
    Role of health and safety committees

  • Unit 6 : SWSAHSR106A
    Consultation and conflict resolution

  • Unit 7 : SWSAHSR107A
    Research, prepare and present a case on an occupational health, safety and welfare issue

 

Course Fee

Standard Fee $820 (inc GST)

Union Members $755 (inc GST)

 

 

The Course Fee includes

  • Participant manual (with copy of the OHS&W Act)

  • Morning and afternoon tea each day

  • Light lunch provided daily (unless regional course)

 

Course Subsidies

Subsidies for Health and Safety Representatives of $50 per participant per day on course fees are available through a SafeWork SA grant for Level 1, Level 2 and Continuing members.

SafeWork SA can advise of the eligibility of your business for a subsidy.

  • small business - up to 100 or fewer employees

  • SAfer Industries

  • High Risk Occupations

  • Regional Industries
