Urgent
call to
support
strong
safety
laws in
South
Australia
WE NEED
YOUR
HELP!

Across
the
country
states
and
territories
have
agreed
to a
single
set of
OHS laws
that
better
protect
workers,
increase
the
fines
for
employers
who
disregard
safety
and
support
the
right of
union
officials
to enter
worksites
to
address
safety
issues.
The
Liberal
Party in
SA with
support
of big
business
are
trying
to stop
these
laws in
parliament.
That
would
mean
South
Australia
would
have the
lowest
safety
standards
in the
country
and more
workers
will be
injured
and die
on the
job.
We
need
your
help to
lobby
the
independents
in the
legislative
council
to make
sure
these
stronger
laws are
passed.
If
the
amendments
proposed
by the
Liberals
and the
employers
associations
get up,
there is
a danger
that we
will end
up with
weaker
safety
laws
than we
currently
have in
SA.
You can
help by:
1.
Sending
a
message
to the
independents
in the
upper
house
asking
them to
support
the Bill

2.
Clicking
on the
Advertiser
vote
button
today
to say
these
new laws
are
needed.

to the
Advertiser
about
the need
for
strong
laws to
keep
workers
safe.

Long

Leave
Discussions
Unions
are
still
meeting
with the
Government
and
continuing
discussions
about
the
return
of
leave.
At this
stage
there is
no
proposal
on the
table
which
returns
the
leave to
its
value
but
options
are
being
explored.
