How the songs were created
Experienced songwriters such as Frank Bava and Steve Bellew wrote and presented completed songs, while others such as Collen Davidson and Anne Cunningham presented words and/or an idea for the melody. These were then worked on with myself to become completed songs.
The songs that I wrote came out of meeting and talking with workers in a number of workplaces and were shaped by these people. In this way the songs are their stories, especially in a song such as "Give us a Voice".Three other Musicians - Jaii Beckley (vocals), Jenna Bonavita (bass) and Kym Till (keyboards) worked on a part-time basis to form a group with myself to workshop and develop the songs in conjunction with the songwriters.
In these ways, the project involved the bringing together of artists with songwriters and workers to produce the twelve new songs that make up the "Working Music" songbook and cassette.
