STATE
BUDGET - SA ON TRACK
22 September 2006
SA Unions says today's state budget
shows the Rann Labor government is on track to keeping its election
promises.
SA Unions Secretary, Janet Giles
described it as a solid performance.
"This is a budget that represents
Labor values, by boosting important areas including health and
education."
"It delivers the services that
working people need", she says.
"We also welcome the increased
investment in skills training as critical for our future."
"Furthermore, we are pleased to see
that the government has listened to our call for a program of
prudent borrowing to fund infrastructure development. This
good debt will boost jobs and economic growth."
"However, we are seeking additional
information about the government's plans to enter into Public
Private Partnerships, to ensure South Australia does not become
embroiled in costly disasters as have occurred interstate and
overseas", Ms Giles says.
