WELCOMES IR PROTECTIONS

SA Unions welcomes the state government's effort to protect public servants from the federal government's harsh new industrial laws.
SA Unions Secretary, Janet Giles says it is very good news that all South Australian Government workers will be protected by the fairer state industrial system.
"We welcome this as an important measure to protect South Australian workers and South Australian jobs", Ms Giles says.
"It is just a pity the same protection cannot be extended to non-government workers', Ms Giles says.
The State Government is seeking to change the law to redefine Crown Employees and enable them to be covered by state industrial legislation.
"We are very grateful to Industrial Relations Minister, Michael Wright for recognising the importance of this measure and taking swift action. We hope these changes are passed without delay", Ms Giles says.
